0-4 months: Sleep

Our advice about sleep for babies from 0 to 4 months

A newborn sleeps an average of 19 hours per day in the first few weeks. This sleep is primordial for his development.

Each follows his own rhythm

However, each baby is different and each follows his own rhythm.
Some "heavy sleepers" can sleep for a very long time in the day, even if there is noise around, and others will sleep in shorter phases and the least noise will wake them. You will very quickly realise which side your baby leans towards.
It is indispensable to respect his rhythm and his sleep: it is better not to wake him on the pretext that it is time for his bottle...

Waking in the middle of the night

At this age waking in the middle of the night is normal: he is simply hungry. An extra feed or a bottle will very certainly help him go back to sleep.
